How do I know if I am giving my maximum efforts?

We underestimate our capacity. First of all, stretch yourself and ask, β€œWhat is the maximum that I can do?” Set an ambitious limit and then exceed that limit by 10 percent.

And when you are truly exhausted, that is when you should know that you have set something beyond yourself in motion. Your personal motion has stopped now because personally you can do no more; you have stretched and exhausted yourself, your personal capacity is finished off.

How do I know if I giving my maximum efforts

That does not mean that your movement, your motion has stopped. That merely means that now you have passed the baton to the one who should have it. You can run no more. Now you will be carried.

But, first of all, you have to reach where the other runner is standing; you have to hand over the baton to him. If you stop before handing it over, then you just stay where you have fallen. You fall and you stay fallen.

Where is that other fellow standing? He is standing at the maximum limit of your personal capacity. If you have not yet met him, it merely means that you have been miserly in exercising your personal capacity.

There is only one way to test whether you have done the maximum you can. If you have done the maximum you can, then you will find that things have started happening on their own, in unexpected, unplanned, unprecedented ways. You are now helpless, you can do no more, but much more is just happening. That is the only proof that you have done your utmost.

If magic has not started showing up in your life, it simply means you have not done your bit yet. Once you have done all that you can, then somebody else takes over. But he will keep waiting till the time you have done the maximum you can. Not because he wants to punish you but because he wants to have your consent before he can step in.

How do you express your consent? By doing the maximum you can. When you do the maximum that you can, that is when you have said, β€œYes! Yes! I say yes to your intervention now. Yes, I am prepared to be carried by you now. Yes, I am now unconditionally yours.”

Once that consent is expressed, then great things start happening; not great by your current and existing standards or imaginations but actually great.

Sitting here, if you start imagining, β€œSo, if I do my maximum, what all great things will start happening to me?” you will get nothing. Those imaginations will give you just trash. Really great things start happening, but those great things are not what you dream of because we never dream of great things. Really great things happen.
